Seymour taylor shortlisted for two Practice Excellence Awards

We are really excited to have been shortlisted for two of the Practice Excellence awards Practice Growth of the year 2017 and Medium Practice of the year 2017.

Winners at the Buckinghamshire Business Awards

We won Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the year at the Buckinghamshire Business First Awards held at the Waterside theatre in Aylesbury on the 30th June 2017. The evening was a fantastic event attended by many businesses from across Bucks. The Buckinghamshire Business Awards is designed to recognise the most ambitious and forward thinking companies in the county and we impressed the judges with our ongoing commitment to recruit and train young employees. Ten of our team were at the awards including some of our younger employees who helped us with the awards entry including making videos on their experience training within our business and why they love working at Seymour Taylor. The award is a fantastic achievement for us and a credit to all the training and development we do with our young employees. It was made even more special to have won this in our Centenary year.

Over 100 clients attended the prestigious event. The afternoon gave our team and clients a chance to look back over everything that we have achieved as a business over the years as well as all the fun we have had along the way. There was entertainment provided in the form of a magician and a caricaturist or clients could try their hand at archery. Afternoon tea was served alongside some refreshing drinks including our very owned beer which was brewed at the Brentwood brewery. The local charities we are supporting in our centenary year were also there to celebrate our special day with us. Great fun was had by everyone who came.

As a team we felt incredibly proud to be celebrating 100 YEARS & COUNTING with our clients.

Marlow - Dragon Boat Race

On the 11th June 2017 a team from Seymour Taylor took part in the Dragon Boat Race in Marlow. We were proud that our team came 17th out of 22 teams.

Our team who were called the Centurions (to fit with our centenary celebrations this year) looked fantastic...so good in fact that we won the best dressed team at the event. We also raised over £100 for Child Bereavement UK as part of our ongoing commitment to raise £10,000 for local and national charities during our Centenary year.

The Buckinghamshire Business Awards are the County’s leading business awards, which showcase the entrepreneurial spirit and vision of businesses within the county. We are delighted to be finalists in the Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year category. Our team are central to our success and we continually invest in training and career development for the younger team members who join us. We are looking forward to the awards night on the 30th June at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

Seymour Taylor Welcomes Back Colleagues from the Past

On 24th April the Seymour Taylor team welcomed back colleagues who have worked with us over the years to celebrate our Centenary.

It was great to see so many faces from the past and to look back at everything the business has achieved over the years plus to share some great memories. Here’s to the next 100 years!

Working with the Chiltern Rangers

On Friday the 24th February ten of our team worked alongside the Chiltern Rangers, clearing part of Deangarden woods to help the natural habitat in the area. This was part of our Centenary activity and goes towards our pledge of providing 100 hours of Corporate Social Responsibility. It was a great day for the team and we really enjoyed working alongside the Rangers.

Simon Turner's Interview on Wycombe Sound

On Friday 27th January our Managing Director Simon Turner did a radio interview with Wycombe Sound a local radio station 106.6 FM. In the interview Simon talks about the history of Seymour Taylor and everything our business is doing in our Centenary year which includes raising £10,000 for charities both locally and nationally and delivering a minimum of 100 hours of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Seymour Taylor participated in the Marlow Dragon Boat Festival again this summer. Dressed as Cops and Robbers great fun was had by all and we even managed to improve on our race times from the previous year.

MGI European Area meeting

Rachel Pugh, Associate Director, and Liza Rowles, Client Manager, attended the MGI European Area Meeting this summer which was held in the historic resort of Noordwijk, near Amsterdam.

The meeting was a fantastic opportunity for our firm to develop new and existing relationships with our MGI Worldwide colleagues from across Europe and the world.

MGI Worldwide is a top-20 global network of independent audit, tax, accounting and consulting firms, and we've been members of MGI for over 20 years. Our membership has helped us better service our clients both in the UK and internationally, and attending area meetings such as this provides us with significant business benefits.

The MGI European Area Meeting this summer, focused on three key strategic themes this year:

  • Collaborative business building
  • Improving the quality of service that members provide for each other
  • Developing a culture of engagement

At the meeting, we identified areas where we can help each other provide our clients with international advice and services such as how to set up for VAT in each country. We were also able to share ideas and have How To guides for clients on tax services in other countries.

Recent Promotions and Exam Successes

Liza Rowles has been promoted to Client Manager, Liza specialises in Corporation Tax work.

David Marshall has passed his final exam and is now ACCA qualified.

Laura Pritchard has succeeded to become ACA qualified.

There have been further recent exam successes for Lauren, Lucy and Gavin. Well done to everyone we are all very proud of you.

At Seymour Taylor we invest heavily in training and it's brilliant to see our members of staff doing so well.
