UK Subsidiary Companies, Business start-ups and growth

Simon joined Seymour Taylor in 1998, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and subsequently progressed within the firm to be appointed Managing Director in September 2010. He has since been driving the business forward and improving all aspects of client service whilst expanding the company.

Simon specialises in helping UK subsidiary companies of international businesses start up and develop within the UK, advising on all aspects of their financial and auditing needs. He has worked with clients all over the world supporting them with their auditing requirements, accountancy, business taxation, compliance and full inter-company reporting.

He also has a wealth of experience in marketing and business with expertise in aiding numerous entrepreneurs and owner managed businesses to achieve their business goals.

Seymour Taylor support many local charities and Simon sits on the Investment Committee of the Bucks Community Foundation, this involves working closely with the members to help the charity achieve their objectives.

Simon is the father of two boys and has a passion for sport, coaching rugby and playing cricket and golf. He is also a keen drummer and has been known to entertain family and friends at parties.

Eddie has a particular wealth of knowledge and experience within Taxation. Prior to joining Seymour Taylor in August 1989, Eddie worked for HM Revenue & Customs as a Tax Inspector. In 1991 he also qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser. He is therefore able to handle all aspects of personal tax, corporation tax and inheritance tax, including significant experience of negotiating with HM Revenue & Customs.

Eddie's client base includes both private individuals and businesses operating with a turnover of up to £1 million. If you have a taxation question or need assistance with corresponding with HM Revenue & Customs, do not hesitate to contact Eddie.

Eddie is very much a family man, spending his time with his wife and two daughters. He also has a passion for speedway racing and enjoys travelling around Europe as a spectator at Grand Prix events.

Liz joined Seymour Taylor as a qualified accountant in April 1999 after completing her training at a top 50 Accounting Practice. She started with us as an Audit Senior and worked her way to managing the Audit and Accounts Department before becoming a Director. She is actively involved in the recruitment and training and development of staff. Liz is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Liz has gained a wealth of experience within the owner managed businesses, charity, property, group companies, stock holding and construction sectors. Her skill is being able to streamline the compliance work for clients so that she can focus on the real needs of the owner manager. Liz specialises in audits and using her business support experience to provide the right advice to companies.

Alongside Bill Johnston, Liz is a Charity and Education sector specialist. She works with a number of local charities and not for profit organisations from educational establishments to charities supporting sufferers of medical conditions, supporting them with decision making as well as having the technical knowledge to advise on their statutory requirements.

Liz enjoys days out with her family, especially when the sun shines. She likes dining out with friends and when time permits she likes cooking and entertaining.

Owner Managed Businesses, SMEs, Taxation and Operations

Rachel joined Seymour Taylor in May 2012 as Associate Director of Operations having relocated to High Wycombe.

Rachel specialises in accountancy and advisory services for small and medium sized enterprises and has a vast amount of knowledge and experience training and advising clients on their systems, internal controls and software.

She also has experience in dealing with marketing, IT, recruitment, training, staff development and practice management and has a commitment to high standards of professionalism. These skills are generally transferable to any business and therefore she particularly enjoys providing support and guidance to clients in all their business challenges as well as working on routine compliance such as tax and accounts.

Rachel's role is initially Operations based, assisting Simon Turner, our Managing Director, but also the other directors in a number of projects, whilst looking to grow her portfolio of clients.

Outside the working environment Rachel tries to get to the gym whenever possible and enjoys cycling. She is currently taking Spanish lessons and is learning to play golf (weather permitting of course.)

Tim joined Seymour Taylor as a trainee on leaving University in 1989, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 and after supervising team members for many years, became of one of the managers in our Audit and Accounts department from 2004 until 2015.

Tim is responsible for managing the audit, accountancy and business tax affairs of a portfolio of small and medium sized, primarily owner-manager businesses, from small start-ups to established businesses, helping the owners to achieve their business objectives. Over the years he has worked with companies with turnover in excess of £70m and employing over 600 people.

Tim's areas of interest include the IT / computer sector; retail; and professional service companies - as our Legal Sector specialist, Tim has worked with a number of local solicitors' practices, helping them with their SRA Accounts Rules compliance work as well as their normal accounts and taxation affairs.

Tim enjoys helping businesses optimise their tax affairs. He has assisted a number of companies in the IT sector with claims for enhanced Research and Development (R&D) relief - a valuable relief whereby a business can obtain tax relief on more than its actual expenditure on qualifying R&D projects- and is experienced in the preparation and review of Capital Allowances claims, an increasingly complex area where allowances can range from nothing, through to 100% for expenditure on energy efficient equipment.

Outside the office Tim is a keen follower of all sports and has been a Wycombe Wanderers season ticket holder for over 20 years.

After starting her career with Equitable Life, Joanne joined Seymour Taylor as a trainee in January 2003. Joanne completed the Accounting Technician exams and went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2006. She quickly progressed within the firm to Senior, followed by Supervisor and then Client Manager before her most recent promotion to Associate Director.

Joanne works with corporate clients in a wide range of business sectors as well as individual clients, specialising in the charity sector and financial services regulated companies. She is responsible for the support Seymour Taylor gives within our parent company - The Hampden Group - and its' external clients. She is now looking forward to working more closely with clients and further enhancing current relationships. Joanne also assists our Director Liz Horton with running the Audit and Accounts department.

Joanne enjoys spending time with her family and she lives locally in Haddenham having grown up in Buckinghamshire.

In 2009 Stephen was appointed as a Director of Seymour Taylor in order to facilitate synergies within the Hampden Group following acquisition of the Seymour Taylor business.

Stephen began audit and accounting work for small and medium sized entities during his time at Hale & Company Chartered Accountants which he joined in 1992. Having joined the Hampden Group in 1994, initially as a management accountant, he later qualified as a Chartered Company Secretary and was appointed Company Secretary to the Hampden Group in 1998. During his time with the Hampden Group he has been selected as Company Secretary of several companies, including Nomina Plc and Community Reinsurance Corporation Ltd, as well as to a number of companies in the Beazley Group Plc, a fully listed UK Lloyd’s insurer. In 2012 Stephen was assigned as Group Chief Operating Officer of the Hampden Group.

Stephen has also been appointed as Director to several of Hampden group companies since 1994, including Hampden Holdings Limited, the ultimate holding company of the Hampden Group. In addition to his capacity as a Director of the Group, he is constantly involved in policy, strategy planning, acquisition and disposal activity as well as the general management of a diverse group of over 30 companies, with around 150 employees, a turnover in excess of £20m and assets under management of over £1.8bn.

Stephen is married with two children. His interests include classic and sports cars and golf.

Client Consulting, Charity and Education Sectors

Bill joined Seymour Taylor in 1982 and became a Partner in 1984. In 1999 he took on the role of Managing Partner / Director. Seymour Taylor became part of the Hampden Group in July 2009 and in September 2010 Bill moved from Seymour Taylor to Hampden's Group headquarters, where he spends the majority of his time, and is now Group Chief Accountant. This role overseas the provision of financial information for the Group, both for statutory and management purposes, and Bill participates in major decisions within the Group, particularly from a financial perspective.

He also serves as a director of several Group companies some of which are engaged in insurance run-off both in the UK and the Netherlands. Together with extensive property interests, the net assets of the Hampden Group now exceed £57 million.

Bill's expertise and particular practice interests lie within the Educational and Charitable sectors. He is a Trustee or Chairman of a number of charitable organisations and in 2011 was awarded "Distinguished Friend of Oxford" for his work with an Oxford University college. Bill's passion for working with and helping dynamic medium sized charities which plan to expand nationally really shows. He also enjoys supporting owner managed SMEs and entrepreneurs.

Outside of work, Bill is involved with the national and local Baptist Church. He spends a lot of time with his wife and family of four grown up children and young grandchildren. Other interests include motoring, baroque music, and taking as many holidays as time allows.
